What Does Optimized Testosterone Feel Like?
Optimized testosterone should translate into meaningful changes in energy, strength, motivation, sexual health, and overall vitality.
When testosterone is truly optimized, the goal is not simply a better lab result. It’s the real-world changes you may begin to notice in your energy, focus, strength, recovery, confidence, and sexual health.
Changes happen gradually and vary from person to person. Some men notice improved energy or libido first, while strength, body composition, and recovery generally take longer. We follow both your symptoms and your laboratory results to determine whether treatment is truly working for you.

When “Getting Older” Isn’t the Whole Story
It’s easy to dismiss the signs of low testosterone as normal byproducts of a busy life, stress, or aging. Fatigue, weight gain, low libido, and depression can be attributable to many other conditions, but they could also be the result of suboptimal testosterone levels. These symptoms can come on gradually enough that someone might not even recognize the slow transition—leading low testosterone to go undiagnosed.
Even if your testosterone levels fall within the “normal” range, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re optimal for you.
If you’ve been struggling with symptoms, it’s time to ask: “Could my Testosterone be low?”

MEN'S HEALTH
FAQ
Common symptoms of low testosterone (Low T) include:
-
Fatigue
-
Decreased libido or sexual performance
-
Mood changes, including irritability and depression
-
Loss of muscle mass or strength
-
Increased body fat • Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
-
Not necessarily.
TRT can suppress your body’s natural testosterone signaling, which is why some men feel like once they start, they are “stuck” on it. At Creekside Retreat, our goal is to avoid that one-size-fits-all trap.
We often use enclomiphene as part of our testosterone optimization approach because it can help support your body’s own LH/FSH signaling and natural testosterone production. This may be especially helpful for men who want to preserve fertility, maintain testicular function, or keep more flexibility in their long-term treatment plan.
Some men do choose to stay on TRT long term because they feel and function better with treatment. Others may use a more conservative approach, transition strategies, or natural-production support depending on their goals, labs, symptoms, and response.
Injections are the traditional and most common form of TRT, but they are not the only option.
At Creekside Retreat, we discuss different delivery methods, including:
-
Injections, usually once or twice weekly
-
Topical testosterone, applied to the skin
-
Testosterone pellets, placed under the skin and lasting several month
-
SAFE Oral formulations are now available
.
The best option depends on your goals, comfort level, lifestyle, response to treatment, and medical history.
-
No, this is a common myth.
There is no evidence that TRT causes prostate cancer. Studies show that men with low testosterone who develop prostate cancer tend to have worse outcomes than those with normal testosterone levels.
However, TRT can slightly increase the size of the prostate due to an increase in DHT (dihydrotestosterone), but this generally doesn't lead to cancer. Regular check-ups and lab tests will help ensure prostate health during TRT.
TRT is generally well tolerated when it is properly prescribed and monitored, but it is still a medical treatment.
Potential risks can include:
-
Lower sperm production / reduced fertility*
-
Testicular shrinkage*
-
Suppression of natural testosterone signaling*
-
Elevated red blood cell count
-
Acne or oily skin*
-
Fluid retention or swelling*
-
Breast tenderness or estrogen-related symptoms*
-
Worsening untreated sleep apnea
-
Mood changes or irritability (most men however, feel a positive change)
-
Prostate symptom changes, such as worsening urinary symptoms in some patients
*These risks may be decreased when enclomiphene is used appropriately, because it helps support the body’s natural LH/FSH signaling, which is important for testicular function and sperm production.
-
TRT can lower sperm production, so fertility should be discussed before starting.
At Creekside Retreat, we use enclomiphene as part of our testosterone optimization approach because it helps support your body’s natural LH/FSH signaling, which is important for testicular function and sperm production.
If having children is a current or future goal, we build that into your treatment plan from the beginning.
The cost of testosterone optimization depends on your protocol, medication type, dosing schedule, and route of treatment. In general, TRT treatment can range from approximately $120–$350 per month, depending on the plan that is best for you.
At Creekside Retreat, we offer different levels of men’s health management and support, which may include options such as medication management, lab review, ongoing monitoring, protocol adjustments, hormone support, sexual wellness support, peptide therapy, and more advanced optimization services.
Your provider will review these options with you during your consultation and help determine which level of care makes the most sense for your goals, budget, and medical needs.
Creekside Retreat is generally a cash-pay practice for testosterone optimization and men’s health services.
The reason is that insurance coverage for TRT is usually based on very strict lab-value requirements, not always on how a patient actually feels or functions. Many men have significant symptoms even when their testosterone levels fall into a “normal” or borderline range, which means insurance may not cover treatment despite real symptoms.
Insurance-covered TRT can also involve extensive paperwork, prior authorizations, and periodic re-approval requirements. This can delay care, limit treatment options, and create unnecessary interruptions in therapy.
If we believe your labs may fall within a range that could qualify for insurance-covered testosterone therapy, we do have a pathway to explore that option. Because this requires additional documentation, insurance coordination, and follow-up paperwork, there may be an additional fee for that service.
We are able to order your labs through the lab of your choice, and many insurance plans may cover some or all of the lab testing. However, lab coverage depends on your specific insurance plan, deductible, diagnosis codes, and medical necessity requirements, so coverage cannot be guaranteed.
We do accept HSA cards, which many patients use for consultations, labs, and eligible treatment-related expenses.
At Creekside Retreat, TRT is not treated like a quick online prescription or a one-size-fits-all hormone plan.
Our testosterone optimization program is built around physician-led care, safety monitoring, easy communication, and personalized dosing.
What makes our approach different:
-
More than 25 years of medical experience guiding your care (Many telehealth hormone programs use providers from different specialties who may receive only brief hormone training before prescribing. Hormones can help tremendously when they are used correctly, but they can also cause problems in the wrong hands.)
-
Safety-focused lab monitoring before and during treatment
-
Direct physician communication, not a call center or disconnected telehealth chain
-
Concierge-level access, with easier appointments and follow-up
-
Customized dosing schedules designed to support smoother, steadier symptom improvement
-
Enclomiphene support when appropriate, to help maintain your body’s natural LH/FSH signaling instead of fully shutting down what you still make
-
More comfortable injection options, including subcutaneous injections for many patients
-
A whole-person approach, looking at energy, libido, strength, recovery, mood, sleep, and long-term wellness
At Creekside Retreat, your plan is not built from a script.
It is built around your symptoms, your goals, your response, and your long-term health.
-
The initial men’s health consultation is $225 and includes an in-depth review of your symptoms, history, goals, medications, labs, and a customized treatment plan.
Not sure if you’re ready? You can schedule a brief introductory call first to learn more.
Introductory calls are for general questions only and do not include personal medical advice, diagnosis, prescribing, or treatment recommendations.
Yes. Many men’s health consultations and follow-up visits can be completed by telehealth, making care more convenient and accessible.
Some situations may still require labs, an in-office visit, injections, procedures, or additional evaluation depending on your treatment plan. Your provider will let you know what is needed based on your goals and medical history.
